Obituary for Leo J Farley

Sayreville
Leo J. Farley age 77 of Sayreville passed away Friday March 20, 2015 at his home with his loving daughter and son in law at his side. Born in Sayreville he was a lifelong borough resident. After graduating from the Police Academy, in Sea Girt, Leo proudly served the Borough of Sayreville, as a police officer from 1962 till his retirement in 1996, ascending through the ranks until retiring as a Captain. He was a member of Sayreville P.B. A. 98, was the Boys Basket Ball Coach for Our Lady of Victories School, member of Sayreville Youth Guidance Organization and a communicant of Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville. Mr. Farley was an avid story teller, loved to travel, spent time at his summer home on Long Beach Island, Rutgers Football, Horse Racing and gardening.

He is predeceased by his wife of 49 years Joan M. Szeliga Farley in 2009, his parents Leo P. & Elizabeth Fritz Farley and his sister and brother in law Elizabeth & William Kroeger. Surviving are his daughter Joanne Remite and her husband Fred of Sayreville, his nieces and their spouses Diane & Fred Samsel and Debra & Thomas Phair and 4 great nieces, 1 great nephew and 1 great great nephew.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 8:45am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville followed by a 9:30am Mass at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville with burial to follow at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Sayreville.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Members of the Sayreville Police Department will stand honor guard at the funeral home and render full services at the funeral. Donations in Leo’s memory can be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Sayreville Emergency Squad.
