Obituary for Katherine "Kate" Roshetar

Katherine “Kate” Roshetar, age 30, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, of an accidental heroin overdose after a long brave battle with addiction. Kate never wanted to be defined only by her addiction because she was so much more than that. Kate was a beautiful, intelligent woman who loved her family deeply and wanted to adopt every dog she saw. Kate was an avid soccer player who was proudly nicknamed “the most tenacious goalie in Sayreville”. As a child Kate enjoyed being involved in the Girl Scouts. She also loved camping with her family. Kate had an energy about her that made her one of a kind. She had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that was undeniable. Kate touched so many lives in so many ways. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Kate is survived by her beloved parents David & Maureen Roshetar of South River as well as her adored sisters Meaghan Roshetar of Japan, Amanda Roshetar of South River, and Emily Roshetar of South River, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A wake service will be Monday, from 3pm to 7pm at Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave. South River, NJ 08882, with a 6pm prayer service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kate’s name to Green Hope Women’s Treatment Center 435 E. 119th St. New York, NY 10035. Our hope is that the truth and complete honesty about Kate’s death could help break the stigma about addiction, and get people talking about this disease of addiction that is destroying so many of our families. Letters of condolence to the family, completed arrangements and directions may be found at www.maliszewskifuneralhome.com.
