Ruth Brophy, of East Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Sunrise Senior Living in East Brunswick. Born in Jersey City she was raised in Hoboken, lived in Secaucus and then Brick from 1985 before moving to East Brunswick 2 years ago. Before her retirement she was employed as an executive secretary for 20 years at Fairbanks Company in North Bergen and prior to that at J.P. Morgan in Manhattan.

She is predeceased by her husband Harry in 2002, her parents Charles & Lillian Meyer, and her sisters Elizabeth Tomford and Eleanor Meyer. Surviving are her children and their spouses Debbie & Gary Wasserman of San Diego, California and Jeff & Lynn Brophy of Sayreville, New Jersey, her grandchildren Ryan Belenzon, Matthew, Christine, Michelle and Kaitlyn Brophy and her great granddaughter Giselle Andrejcak.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin followed by a 12:30pm graveside service at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Monday 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Ruth’s memory be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
