Obituary for John Pelak

Edison
John Pelak age 91 of Edison passed away peacefully on Monday September 8, 2014 at JFK Haven Hospice in Edison. Born in Czechoslovakia he resided in Linden before moving to Edison in 1954. Before his retirement in 1987 he was employed in the maintenance division for the Edison Board of Education where he worked for 21 years. Mr. Pelak was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Clara Barton Post 324 American Legion in Edison, Clara Barton Seniors and AARP in Edison. John was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River where he was a former member of the church choir and church council.

He is predeceased by his parents John & Ann Pelak and his sisters Mary Kovac, Ann Osowick and Helen Russell. Surviving are his wife Helen Wapner Pelak and his son Larry Pelak.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 11:30am service at Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church with burial to follow at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, South River.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Friday from 9am to 11am.
