Obituary for James H Breese Jr.

James H. Breese Jr. “Buddy” age 93 of the Parlin section of Sayreville, passed away Sunday October 26, 2014 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New Brunswick he has resided in Parlin since 1954. Before his retirement in 1983 he was employed as a machinist for Johnson & Johnson Permacel Tape Division in New Brunswick where he worked for 30 years and during his employment was a Shop Stewart. As a Shop Stewart, he saved many people their jobs and was instrumental in negotiating an excellent medical benefit plan.
Mr. Breese was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He went to the Philippines aboard the USS Sea Witch where he was stationed at Sangley Point across from Manila Bay. He was there when Gen. MacArthur signed the first Peace Treaty with Japan.
He was a member of Sayreville Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 4699 where he was a former Quarter Master with 7 Commanders and earned the prestigious Aide-de-Camp award several times. James was an avid bowler and captain of his bowling team and was also a member of the Hazlet Stamp Club.

He is predeceased by his wife Lois Fitzpatrick Breese in 1977 his parents James & Wanda Bulwinski Breese and his siblings John Breese, Adella Woitscheck and Byron Breese.
Surviving are his children Janis Byrne and her husband M. Robert of Pennsylvania, James H. Breese III of North Brunswick and Barbara Breese of Parlin, his grandchildren Colleen Byrne and Susan and Mike Brown and his sisters-in-law Margaret Breese and Margie Breese and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 11am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin followed by burial in Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Members of Sayreville V.F.W. Post 4699 will hold military services on Wednesday 7:30pm at the funeral home.
