Obituary for Peter Paul Chmiel

Peter Paul Chmiel, age 75 of Sayreville, passed away Saturday November 29, 2014, at the NJ VA Hospital in East Orange, NJ. Born in Jersey City, where he resided for 46 years before moving to Sayreville. Peter worked nights as a drummer and engineer while earning a degree at Newark College of Engineering before eventually obtaining his New Jersey Professional Engineer's license. He served in the US Marine Corps. Peter spent his career as a civil engineer. Positions included Jersey City Department of Sewer and Sanitation, partner at Schoor De Palma engineering firm in Matawan, NJ, Head of Construction at Spire Realty in Texas and Head of Coring at KeyTech Labs before retiring. Peter had a love for golf and watching sports.

He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Chmiel and his sisters Helen and Mary. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Kimberly (Michael) and Peter (Amber), his grandchildren Michael, Gabrielle, Tristan and soon to be born baby granddaughter, his siblings, Edward (Theresa), Francis Thadeus (Annette), Madeleine and Patricia and his ex wife Eileen Chmiel.

Funeral services will be Wednesday 10:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main St Sayreville, with a 11am mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at Holy Cross North Arlington.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 9am to 10am.
